Google Grants
Google Grants offer free exposure and broad reach
Free advertising may sound too good to be true, but many nonprofits have received just that through a program known as Google Grants — and yours may qualify. In the program's first year, 80% of organizations that applied received a grant, and the online search firm has given away $33 million in free advertising to more than 800 not-for-profits in the last two years. Ads for organizations selected by Google appear as sponsored links next to search results for keywords relating to their mission.
To be eligible for a Google Grant, which the company awards quarterly, organizations must have 501©(3) status and cannot be religious or political in nature. They also have to make a strong case in their application.
The company looks for nonprofits that share its community-service philosophy and have a strong mission to help the world in areas such as:
- Science and technology,
- Global public health,
- The environment,
- The arts,
- Youth advocacy, and
- Education.
